Carrier bag charge introduced in the UK

On 5 October 2015 a compulsory 5p charge on single-use carrier bags came into force as part of the government’s policy on improving waste and recycling. HMRC have published guidance reminding all businesses that VAT must be accounted for on any charge made for single-use carrier bags.
