Change in VAT rate in Romania

31 March 2014

The Romanian government has confirmed that it is not in a position to reduce the 24% standard VAT rate at the moment due to the continuing impact of low economic growth. In the meantime, there may be a reclassification of meat, fruit and vegetables from the standard rate to the reduced 9% rate. There are no details yet as to the full range of low VAT rate changes.
