EU Council agrees VAT in the digital age (ViDA) package

29 November 2024

During November the EU Council reached an agreement on new measures that will bring the EU’s Value Added Tax (VAT) rules into the digital age (ViDA). These measures will be implemented gradually, starting from 2027 to 2035, with specific dates yet to be confirmed.

Per previous articles, the ViDA initiative aims to revamp the European Union’s (EU) VAT system by implementing a series of digital measures that aim to modernise, simplify, and make the EU VAT system more resilient to VAT fraud.
