EU One Stop Shop VAT collections exceed €125 billion

30 September 2026

More than €125 billion of VAT has been collected through the EU’s One Stop Shop (OSS) and Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) schemes since their introduction in July 2021. The schemes allow businesses to report VAT due in several EU countries through single registrations, reducing the need for multiple VAT registrations.

From 1 July 2028, the EU’s VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) reforms will expand OSS to cover additional B2C transactions. A new scheme will also be introduced for qualifying movements of a business’s own goods between EU Member States. Together, these changes should reduce the number of separate VAT registrations required by businesses storing, moving and selling goods across the EU.

Non-resident traders should review their EU VAT registrations and supply chains to determine whether they could benefit from the expanded schemes. Local VAT registrations may still be required depending on where stock is held, how goods are moved and the transactions undertaken in each country.

We will contact affected clients closer to the introduction date to discuss how ViDA will affect their business and VAT compliance obligations.
