Philippines delayed implementation of VAT on e-services to August 2025

6 August 2025

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) postponed the introduction of VAT on digital services supplied by foreign providers to local consumers until 1 August 2025.

The BIR recently launched a new simplified VAT registration portal and confirmed that affected companies will only be required to register once their annual revenue exceeds PHP 3 million (approximately £41,000). Additionally, the BIR clarified that there is no obligation to appoint a local tax agent or fiscal representative to register for VAT in the Philippines.
