Swiss VAT act amendments in 2018

The Swiss Parliament has approved several changes to the Swiss VAT Act that will take effect from 1 January 2018. These include:

  • The application of a reduced VAT rate of 2.5% for online media services.
  • Withdrawal of the CHF 100,000 VAT registration for non-resident service providers from 1 January 2018
  • Removal of the VAT exemption on low-value packages (under a value of CHF200) being imported into the country
