UPDATE: Bahrain launches 5% VAT October 2018

The Ministry of Finance in Bahrain has confirmed that it will implement Value Added Tax (VAT) at a rate of 5% from 1 October 2018, with a VAT registration threshold set for all businesses at US$ 100,000.

The UAE is part of the six-country Gulf Cooperation Council (“GCC”) and all of these countries had agreed to implement a harmonised VAT regime by 2018. The GCC countries consist of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman.
