UPDATE: Poland implements e-invoicing from 2022

6 January 2022

Poland has now passed legislation that has introduced a voluntary live VAT e-invoice reporting regime in the country.

The new voluntary regime (KSeF) is now open for businesses to register and will allow both resident and non-resident companies that sell to other VAT registered businesses in the country to declare their sales to the Polish tax authorities via a new e-invoicing platform. This is instead of sending invoices directly to their customers.

The Polish tax authorities will then digitally verify these invoices and confirm that they can be issued to the customer accordingly.

Poland hopes this new invoice-reporting regime will help to prevent VAT fraud in the country and if successful, it is planning to make this a mandatory requirement for all businesses from 2023.
