Egypt to launch simplified VAT registration for non-resident companies selling digital services

28 February 2023

From 1 May 2023, Egypt will launch a new simplified registration process and VAT reporting portal for non-resident businesses selling electronic services to consumers in the country.

Since September 2016, non-resident businesses providing digital services in Egypt have had a requirement to charge VAT on their sales. This was introduced to remove the unfair advantage that not charging VAT gave to non-resident companies over resident providers.
