UAE to introduce e-invoicing from July 2026 for B2B and B2G invoices

31 October 2024

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has updated its guidance on the July 2026 introduction of business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) e-invoicing.

This includes a Frequently Asked Questions page and confirms the phased launch plan for e-invoicing which is:

  • Q4 2024: issuance of draft technical requirements and processes
  • Q2 2025: draft legislation
  • Dec 2025: rollout strategy
  • July 2026: Phase 1 launch

It also confirms that business-to-consumer (B2C) e-invoicing will follow later.

E-invoicing is being rolled out in the UAE as part of the wider ‘e-billing system’ initiative which was first proposed back in 2023. This also includes the automatic population and submission of VAT returns using the data collected from the issued electronic invoices.
